http://www.greenchristmasappeal.org

I guess today has been eventful and as always I’m so tired!! I finished working on the site at about 430 am this morning and was awake about 1030.....I know 1030 is a lie in! Anyway I was working on the “linked partners” (http://www.greenchristmasappeal.org/en/make-a-difference/register/125.html )page because I’m hoping that there will be something in the Manchester Evening News tonight which will drive traffic to the site, so following on the theme of CANI (constant and never ending improvement) I felt that there was potential to get businesses to link to the site from their site which again will drive traffic to the Green Christmas Appeal site (www.greenchristmasappeal.org).

I woke up and had an email which put the whole project in jeopardy... the shop wasn’t working....mmmmm can’t think of a much worse problem! The checkout link simply took the shopper back to the shop front page!!! (http://www.greenchristmasappeal.org/en/buy-now.html) I frantically tried to fix it but when I spoke to one of the guys who is assisting me with the web side of things he had made a change yesterday to try and improve the sites performance with search engines and this had caused the issue. He flew back to his office to put things straight! Job done.....the stress of this project is phenomenal. It’s one thing running a business by yourself but in the public eye is scary!!

Next I got a sample back from China for a child’s DIY Christmas tree.....mmmmmm not very child friendly with a big spike down the middle...back to the drawing board! Lol oh how this project is teaching me things I never even thought about.

So have you voted today? (http://www.globalstartupchallenge.com/marvin.php) If not please nip over to the voting page and help Green Christmas Appeal win the £10k business grant.

So this evening I’m going to have a break and have a game of squash....before coming back working into the night on the site....remember CANI!!!!

That’s it for now.... Thanks for reading.

Kind regards,

Marvin Baker

Marvin created partnership with Ecotricity, the UKs only 100% renewable energy supplier, to plant a tree every time someone switches to renewable energy through the Green Christmas Appeal web site. Ecotricity have a Price promise to match the Big 6 suppliers for price, giving people a real choice of Green energy of burning fossil fuels.

Marvin said “In the past switching to renewable energy meant a massive price increase. Ecotrcity are now charging the same as the main UK energy suppliers which is why I decided that if visitor to my site decide to switch to green energy I would use the commission to plant a tree”.

Marvin added that “Green Christmas Appeal is committed to ethical as well as green business practices, so  we are pledging to supply computer equipment to 50 African children for every 100 trees it plants through the largest and most experienced ICT  Development provider, Computer Aid.”

The winner of the Global Start-up Challenge will win a further £10k business grant to develop even further. Marvin has said that if he wins “It will guarantee that I will be able to plant a further 1600 trees, plus supply computer equipment to 800 children in the third world”.
